Arrow Season 4: 8 Things You Need To Know About Green Arrow

3. A Wise-Cracking Vigilante

Showrunner Marc Guggenheim has stated that season 4 is going to have a lighter tone and more humour, which is very necessary after the misery of last year. Obviously the show needs to retain a certain amount of darkness to stay true to itself and be distinguishable from other shows, it can't just all of a sudden become The Flash mark II, but lightening things up a bit is a wise move. More specifically, it should mean we're getting to see Oliver/Green Arrow cracking a few more jokes. Stephen Amell has done everything asked of him so far in the dramatic stakes, improving each year as an actor and helping make it all that little more believable. It'd be great now to see him add another string to his bow, as it were, and have some more fun in the role. One of the most beloved parts of the Green Arrow character is his humourous, wise-cracking, smartass attitude while protecting the city, something that hasn't carried over to the show at all. Having Olly crack a couple of jokes while taking down the bad-guys would go some way to lightening the tone and making it an all-round more enjoyable show to watch.
