Arrow Season 7: 7 Ways It Has Reinvigorated The Show

2. A Worthy Redemption Arc For Black Siren

Arrow Season 7
The CW

Without a doubt, the most alluring character of Season 7 has been Laurel Lance a.k.a. Black Siren. The former villain made her full-time debut on Arrow last season where, after bonding with Quentin, it became clear that redemption was on the cards.

While there was a lot more good than bad during the Season 6 storyline, there was one recurring issue that took some time to iron out - her inability to pick a side. The writers had the right idea by having her walk the line between good and evil but the execution left something to be desired. Instead of having her struggle with her demons, she gleefully turned heel more times than we could count and, until the season's second half, she really seemed to love the whole experience.

However, this season, her arc has seen a major improvement. Taking up Earth-1 Laurel's position as District Attorney to honour Quentin, Black Siren is once again conflicted. But this time around, it's much more personal. There are times where she is unable to reconcile her desire to do good with her total hot-headedness, while there are also times where she uses all of her villainous cunning for good. She's learning to blur the lines (without ever crossing them) in order to do the right thing and that makes her a more efficient hero than any of the others.

From the moment Katie Cassidy sassed her way through Siren's debut on The Flash, we knew that this Laurel had a well of untapped potential and, although it's taken a while to get the balance between good and evil right, she is now absolutely stealing the show on a weekly basis.

However, she isn't afraid to share that spotlight...
