5. The Mark Of Four Is Born

Finales are almost always used to tie up their loose ends, but in Arrow's case, it was used to officially kick-start one of them.

Earlier in the season, the flash-forward narratives began referring to something known as The Mark of Four, with each mention usually accompanied by a glimpse of the mark itself. That mark later reappeared as a tattoo on the arm of Dinah Drake as she revealed that Oliver coined the term before everything went to hell, commenting that it stood for the four pillars of heroism: Courage, Compassion, Selflessness and Loyalty.

It was an intriguing concept and one that was used so sparingly that you would have been forgiven for forgetting that it even existed. The writers, however, did not forget, and used Oliver and Felicity's departure to officially introduce us to The Mark Of Four in the present-day, as Diggle, Dinah, Roy, and Rene all bid farewell to their leader while agreeing to watch each other's backs.

Whether or not The Mark is a one-season wonder remains to be seen, but it was undoubtedly nice to finally see the monumental moment that Dinah had previously referred to and, in doing so, understand how it all started.
