Though most Season 1 references in the episode called back to either the pilot or the finale, there were other more subtle nods to the rest of the season throughout. However, one of the, well, less subtle references came in Queen-Merlyn when Oliver thought he spied a familiar face chewing on a not-so-familiar pen.

"It's supposed to be red," he playfully teased as he walked up to the blonde-haired woman in a pink shirt only to discover that she wasn't who he thought she was.

From the way that woman was dressed to her almost identical voice, this was a clear reference to Felicity Smoak's debut appearance in Season 1, Episode 3 'Lone Gunmen'.

A little on-the-nose, sure, but nice nonetheless.
