Arrow Series Finale Review: 12 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Fadeout'
4. Green Lantern Lives
Words can't describe how fulfilling it felt to see John Diggle's face glow green when he picked up that strange little box that crash-landed before him. It's a feeling that can only be equaled by how far our jaws dropped when we began to figure out what was happening.
For years, we've all wondered if John Diggle was Arrow's original interpretation of iconic DC character John Stewart (a.k.a. the Green Lantern), and the writers have lapped up that intrigue - teasing us all with references to the character, including the fact that Diggle's stepfather was General Stewart.
We would have been happy with Oliver's best friend just living a happy life with Lyla, J.J. and baby Sara, but this was the ultimate gift to fans who had been waiting a long time for confirmation on whether Diggle was the Green Lantern or not. An exceptional creative choice and one that made so many people very, very happy.
In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape John Diggle's light.
