Battlestar Galactica: 10 WORST Things To Happen In The Colonial Fleet

6. Constant Threat Of Attack

Battlestar Galactica Sine Quo Non
Universal

By the fourth season, it has been several years since the initial attack on the colonies. With only a brief respite on New Caprica, before even that situation became hellish, the fleet have constantly faced upheaval, attack and the threat of annihilation. That is enough to test the strongest soul of any person, but by the time Lee Adama hangs up his wings, he truly sees how bad it has become.

President Roslin is seemingly kidnapped by a Cylon Basestar, prompting Admiral Adama to begin a search. He sends several Raptors out on scouting missions. Meanwhile, Lee Adama, on the outs with any military decisions at this point, attempts to argue the merits of his father's search to the other members of the Quorum.

What he is not prepared for is the reaction that he receives. Admiral Adama, blinded by his love for Roslin, orders the Galactica to jump away - leaving the fleet defenseless. Lee Adama sees that the members of the Quorum react to this, not with shock or panic, but with resignation. He sees that they truly expect to die - and they've given up the fight.

Though Galactica returns, it is a stark realisation for Apollo.
