Battlestar Galactica's 15 Biggest Plot Twists And Reveals

Much of Battlestar Galactica’s final season deals with the revelation of some of the so-called “Final Five” Cylons. Their attempts to remain hidden are threatened when deckhand Cally Tyrol stumbles upon their secret and learns that her own husband is one of them.

The news brings her to the breaking point, and leads her to nearly kill herself and her infant son Nicholas in an airlock. At the last moment, Tory Foster, one of the other revealed Cylons, appears and intervenes. Tory speaks tenderly and compassionately to Cally, but it is quickly revealed that her concern is only for Nicholas, who at that point is thought to be a Cylon hybrid. Once Nicholas is safe, Tory brutally strikes Cally and ejects her into space, allowing her death to be written off as suicide.

The decision to have one of the new Cylons embrace her true heritage was a strong one from a writing point of view, but it was shocking to see for the audience. Cally was not always the most pleasant character, but her death is harsh and painful, and made it clear that nobody was safe as the series drew to a close.
