Batwoman Season 1 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘Mine Is A Long And A Sad Tale’

3. Luke And Mary Work Really Well Together

As this week's episode was primarily focused on Alice's history lesson with Kate (which came in the form of a long conversation), that could have left the rest of the characters at a loss for things to do. Thankfully, it did not (well, unless your name is Catherine).

While Jacob Kane and Sophie Moore understandably teamed up to track down the pair, it was the unexpected pairing between Kate's trusty partner-in-crime-fighting Luke Fox and her step-sister Mary that ended up catching us all off-guard.

Though Luke clearly had no time for Mary's understandable self-pity (after finding out what her mother did), the unlikely duo ended up having an incredibly unique dynamic that brought some welcome levity to a rather dark episode and, as shocking as it may seem, they managed to figure out who Alice was stealing skin for.

Camrus Johnson and Nicole Kang work really well together and something tells us viewers that this won't be the last time that fate throws them together. Let's hope not anyway!
