Big Finish Just Altered Doctor Who's Biggest Moment!

9. "Do I Have The Right?"

Doctor who Big Finish
BBC

Simple really. The Fourth Doctor chooses to wipe out the Daleks.

As shown in the clip in the last entry, the Doctor wrestles with the conflict of what to do. But in this version of history (beautifully recreated by Tom Baker, Sadie Miller, and Christopher Naylor) the Doctor decides he can do this. The Doctor literally holds all the power in his hands, "just touch these two strands".

The original moment is clearly contentious, with the Doctor weighing up the outcome, but what does the Doctor become when he picks the more violent option?

Surely there are two options. You've wiped out the evilest creatures in the universe, you can stop now, you've done the bad deed, but for the right reason. Or, you keep going on that slippery slope, and take these big decisions into your own hands. What will this Doctor pick?

In the original universe, as in this alternate, Sarah Jane is actually very vocal to the Doctor in trying to convince him that this is the right thing to do. But what are the consequences of that?
