Black Mirror: Every Major Plot Twist Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Cooper's Phone Killed Him - Playtest

Black Mirror Playtest
Netflix

Playtest isn't one of the absolute strongest Black Mirrors ever, as it's a bit too reliant on its twists. For the purposes of this article, though, it ranks highly due to its literally killer final reveal.

After a myriad of "is this real? No, it's not!" rug-pull moments, it is at last revealed that pretty much the whole episode has been a VR experience. The reason it was so trippy is because Cooper (Wyatt Russell) had left his phone switched on, meaning that the signals had messed with the tech, killing him.

This is a fiendish twist as it evokes that old warning that none of us actually pay attention to. Remember, turn your phone off when you're told to, guys. It really could save your life.
