Bob's Burgers: Every Halloween Episode Ranked Worst To Best

1. The Hauntening (Season 6, Episode 3)

Bob's Burgers Nightmare On Ocean Avenue Street
FOX

"The Hauntening" was the first Halloween episode of Bob's Burgers to tell a properly spooky story. While less reliant on disturbing imagery than "Pig Trouble in Little Tina," the episode still earns high marks for some delightful character moments and several off-the-wall gags that even long-time fans won't see coming. It's also one of the few episodes not to suffer any side-story slowdown, as the Belchers stay together for the whole adventure this time around.

Everything starts simply enough, with Louise complaining that nothing scares her. It's a relatable complaint for a lot of Halloween enthusiasts and general horror fans alike. Bob and Linda try to make her happy by taking her to a special haunted house they've organized themselves, only for their efforts to fall flat at every turn.

Avid TV watchers already know where this is going. The family's threatened by a seemingly real entity, leading to a humorous yet unsurprising reveal at the end. But while the general plot line may feel staler than last year's candy corn, the explanations are funny enough and the preceding journey is full of charmingly hilarious family interactions less featured in the A-story/B-story episodes.

The best part of all? "The Hauntening" ends with a non-sequitur Boyz4Now ripoff of the 1997 "Backstreet's Back" video. That alone merits a top ranking on anyone's list.
