Bob's Burgers: Every Halloween Episode Ranked Worst To Best

4. Full Bars (Season 3, Episode 2)

Bob's Burgers Nightmare On Ocean Avenue Street
FOX

The first Halloween episode of the series, "Full Bars" begins strong with a slew of gut-punching one-liners and sight gags seemingly every few seconds. The episode even scores points for costuming Gene as Queen Latifah without making race or sex the focal point of the joke.

Both of the episode's initially grounded plotlines also feel pretty relatable. The Belcher kids' excursion to a richer neighborhood in search of the mythical full-sized chocolate bar will probably feel like a trip down memory lane for at least a handful of nostalgic viewers. Meanwhile, Bob and Linda suffer through the all-too-common experience of trying to leave an awful Halloween party without disappointing their zealous host.

While this is all fun enough, the episode loses its edge after the midpoint plot shift. The children have to flee a bunch of unruly teenagers on a mischief-making "Hell Hunt," while Bob and Linda get sucked into a low-stakes murder mystery. These plot developments aren't terrible in and of themselves, but the laugh-out-loud humor of the episode's first half feels noticeably absent.

Even then, the episode still delivers at least a few good knee-slappers. With a didn't-see-that-coming cell phone toss by Louise, Gene's unfortunately relatable hot sauce injury, and some objectively accurate criticisms of guinea pigs, even the lesser half of "Full Bars" provides some pretty delicious comedy.
