Breaking Bad: 10 Reasons The Ending Satisfies

5. Inventive Badassery

Breaking Bad Mercury Keeping true to the tone of this, I give you this entry. It truly is all about returning to the roots of the series. Remember the "Not Meth"? Jessie get's the stuffing beaten out of him with a bag of money. An upset Walt, freshly bald, goes to Tuco's with a bag of fermented mercury. In one of the shows earliest showings that nerds are dangerous and potentially badass, Walt activates the mercury and blows up the inside of a building with him still in it. All he comes out with is a bloody nose (and a bag of cash). In the series finale, Walt gets inventive again when he rigs a machine that will set off a fully loaded light machine gun with the push of his car-door locker. The result was awesome in it's true form. We haven't seen too much of this from our favourite chem-teacher over the last season or two, so when it happened, I almost jumped with excitement. It was great to see that he still had it in him. To most viewers, I'd say the scene directly emulated that first season stand-off with Tuco. Walt rides in to pick up for Jesse, while doing something incredibly dangerous to his own health. Unfortunately he didn't escape his own plan with just a bloody nose this time.

I'm a fan of pop-culture in all mediums: Music, Film, Gaming, Comics, TV, Whatever. I can generally find something enjoyable in even the worst trash. I guess as a B-Horror enthusiast, I kind of have to. Currently I'm an author working on a manuscript for a crime novel, and attending school to be an Environmental Health and Safety Technician. In the past I've made a go at running in an election for MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) for my hometown of Glace Bay. I was 23 at the time, and though I lost (by like a lot), I learned a lot more about politics in a month than I ever learned. Get at me on Twitter @DanWilsonWC
