Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Funniest Episodes
5. Gingerbread (Season 3, Episode 11)
When compared to other episodes on this list, season three's 'Gingerbread' is a much darker take on the show's trademark quick-fire humour.
After discovering the bodies of two children in a local park, Joyce gathers up the local parents and starts a crusade to stamp out any trace of witchcraft in their community. The ridiculously named MOO - Mothers Opposed to the Occult - seems like a damp squib upon a first glance, but we soon discover that Joyce and many others are under the influence of a demonic force that wants them to kill anyone that practices witchcraft - including their own children.
Whilst its premise is certainly very unsettling, the episode is teaming with the funny stuff as it's down to Cordelia, Oz, Xander and Giles to save the day. Their dynamics in the face of danger lead to many a great line of dialogue, and their plans to rescue Buffy and Willow from the clutches of MOO are a genuine treat to watch.
The absolute standout moment however has to be when Buffy breaks free of the stake that she's tied to and uses it to impale a large demon. Her strained cries of "Did I get it?! Did I get it?!" will never be anything short of hilarious.
