Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 15 Iconic Moments That Defined the Series

1. Season 7: Bye Bye Sunnydale

I would have liked to have included more moments from Season 7 on this list, however you don't know how impossible it is to round up every great moment from Buffy in just 15 choices, and the final episode of Buffy is really the most important, defying episode of the season and one of the most iconic moments from the entire show. Everything about Buffy changes in this episode, and like all great Buffy finales, we couldn't imagine this moment at the beginning of the episode. Buffy has a history of blowing things up in order to get closure from them. She apparently set fire to her gym pre-season 1 which got her expelled from school and made her mother move her to Sunnydale and out of LA... she blew up the school on her graduation day... she was partly to blame for the Initiative being mostly destroyed and here, in the final moments of Buffy The Vampire Slayer she is partly to blame for the entire town of Sunnydale, where the show had been set for it's entire 7 season run to be completely destroyed. But this episode is much more famous and iconic than just for the destruction of Sunnydale. This amazing season finale sees Buffy's all time desire which she expresses throughout the show come true. Buffy had always wanted to be just another girl, although part of her also wanted to be super-powered because it was the only life she new. In this episode, she got to have her cake and eat it. Willows spell managed to make all potential slayers (slayers that could be called when Buffy dies) into actual slayers so that now Buffy can be one of thousands of girls like she had never been before, yet still retain her superpowers. Now the responsibility Buffy had was spread out, her life was no longer such a burden, and her life expectancy must have shot up. Buffy could now do what ever she wanted with her future... if she wanted, she didn't even have to fight demons anymore (though, if you've read season 8 and 9, you know that she does). These are what I consider to be the 15 most iconic moments that defined the series. Obviously there are so many more great moments (and it killed me not to include them) , but if you think I left a hugely important moment from Buffy's life off this list, I'd love to hear your suggestion. Also, if you have a completely different 15, I'd love to also hear those too... although be warned, it is much more difficult than you'd think. A top 100 would just about do it... Thanks for reading.
