Crisis On Infinite Earths Finale Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs From Parts 4 And 5
5. A Hero's Farewell For Oliver Queen
There is an end and there is a beginning. Two things that went hand in hand during Crisis On Infinite Earths because, as Oliver Queen lay dying in the mound of earth, he looked up at the new universe he had created - knowing that he could be at peace because his mission was over.
In a way, that's what Oliver has always been seeking: The peace in knowing that his mission succeeded. And after eight long years, he has finally realised it.
A dark hero born from a sinful family, he rose up to become his own city's reckoning, protecting the innocent while punishing the guilty. He never would have imagined that he'd end defending the multiverse one day from an inherently evil cosmic being - but that just illustrates how far he has come.
The man who started it all went out with a triumphant and emotional last stand. All heroes can say they saved the world, but only one saved the universe. And this writer couldn't think of a more fitting ending for the Arrowverse's original hero.
Farewell Oliver, thank you for everything.
