Ups...

6. Using Oliver As An ‘In’

Using Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen as an ‘in’ for the audience made perfect sense here, and it was something that was fantastically handled by the minds behind the show.

Ollie is a familiar face to any even slightly well-versed in The CW’s DC output, meaning he instantly brought a sense of familiarity to proceedings. Added to that, he served as the perfect way to have Mick Rory explain the Legends’ fate whilst simultaneously introducing a new character in the form of Nate Heywood. Sure, we could’ve easily had Heywood track down Rory on his own then have Heat Wave explain things to him, but bringing the Green Arrow into the mix is something that just makes sense for a multitude of reasons.

To date, Arrow’s fifth season has hit it out of the park with its first two episodes, and it appears that the Emerald Archer has his edge back once more. Using him here was a no-brainer, and Ollie served as the perfect way to get us up to speed with what’s happened to Rip Hunter’s Legends team.
