DC's Stargirl Season 1 Review: 10 Ups & 2 Downs
7. The Score
Every superhero needs their signature sound in order for their most triumphant moments to succeed. Danny Elfman gave us Batman's iconic theme, John Williams' Superman score is synonymous with the character and Wonder Woman will never shake that classic '70s opening theme. It's hard to imagine what those properties would have felt like without that music, and we can now add Stargirl's score to that list.
Pinar Toprak is no stranger to the superhero genre, having lent her talents to Captain Marvel's memorable soundtrack last year and the score of Syfy's short-lived Krypton, but she does outdoes herself on Stargirl. The triumphant intro title - that makes its presence felt throughout the show as well - captures the ideals of the character perfectly, while the slower, louder sounds that serenade some of the series' most powerful moments leave you with goosebumps every time they play in the background.
It's honestly beautiful and it makes the show a more immersive experience, making you feel things that dialogue and storytelling aren't always capable of.
