Dexter: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
1. Dexter Morgan
Did you really expect someone else?
Miami's Dark Defender is one of the all time great TV characters. Following up the timid, well-meaning David Fisher in Six Feet Under with something completely different, Michael C. Hall solidified himself as one of TV's finest leading men. A genius blood-spatter analyst by day and an ingenious murderer by night, he was like a superhero gone horribly wrong. Thanks to Harry's code, the lovable psychopath targets only the wicked, specifically fellow murderers.
Dexter's arc is one of self-discovery. When we first meet him, he knows little about himself or his need to kill, he considers himself incapable of love and empathy. Despite this, he forms meaningful relationships with family and lovers as the series wears on. While a sense of decency becomes more apparent in him as the show goes on, the need to satisfy his dark passenger never truly leaves. A dominant factor in his every waking moment, it often leads Dexter to abysmal decisions that make him his own worst enemy (and a danger to those close to him).
An unconventional heart throb and seminal antihero, Dexter's imminent return to the small screen can't come soon enough. Both he (and his fans) deserve a better goodbye.
