Disenchantment Part 2: 10 Best Moments
4. Escaping Hell
It seemed the show had written itself into a bit of corner after Elfo's death at the end of Part One, but they managed to get around it fairly easily. After Elfo wakes up in Heaven, Bean is able to send him a message asking the elf to meet her in Hell. In episode 12, the second episode of Part Two, the three of them arrive in then escape from the clutches of the demons in Hell.
It's probably the most cinematic and colourful sequence in the whole series, and one of the most anticipated parts of the show so far. Like a few parts of Disenchantment, you could argue that it might have been better served going slower, but then the manic pace is part of the show's charm.
Elfo's hurt at not being revived by Bean feels short lived, though it does crop up again through the series. It's Luci's constant outsmarting of everyone and his eventual sacrifice of his demonhood and immortality which make the episode great though.
Also interesting that the message Elfo hears is slightly different to the one Bean actually says, suggesting that God does indeed work in mysterious ways.
