Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Problems With The Matt Smith Era

6. The Crack In The Wall

Classic example of a great idea that was later expanded on and turned into something it wasn€™t meant to be. We learn through the series that the cracks are cracks in the skin of the universe and that on the other side of the crack is the exploding TARDIS as well as anti-time. But in €œThe 11th Hour€ the Doctor opens the crack and on the other side is the Atraxi. Prisoner Zero managed to somehow come through this crack and hide on Earth for 12 years doing precisely what? Then Prisoner Zero taunts the Doctor about how he doesn€™t know where the cracks in the universe come from and that Silence will fall. Great set-up but it feels very much like the core idea was built upon and by doing so makes no sense of its original story.
