1. Angels Take Manhattan
The ultimate weeping angels episode; they steal the life force/time potential of Amy and Rory. I knew they were not going to survive the episode but it was still shocking. I was disturbed for days. This episode was up there with Rose being forced into the parallel universe and Donna losing her mind. I hate anything bad happening to characters/people I love. The episode was shot on location in New York. The Doctor, Amy and Rory are hanging out in modern-day Central Park. The Doctor is reading a book. Rory gets transported back in time, where he encounters River Song. The weeping angels are out for life-blood. Rory's card is marked; he spends the episode fighting his destiny. Destiny wins and he is lost into the past. Amy has the choice to stay with River, and the Doctor, and never see him again, or jump the same angel's spell and hope to land where Rory did. Talk about a leap of faith! From the last page in the book, we know they connected, were happy, and lived long and prospered, but we, the Doctor, and River, will never meet them again.
The Lesson: Love asks us to take impossible leaps of faith. Love is worth risking it all for. Do everything you can to make it work, if you truly believe in the potential of the relationship, stopping short at compromising yourself or your integrity. If it's right, everything will fall into place; if it's not to be, remember the love, let go of the pain, and move on...as my gran used to say - 'There's plenty more fish in the sea that ever came out of it!' Good luck, have fun...and hopefully the 50th anniversary will be worth the wait and let us know what the hell is going on! I am dying to see what Peter Capaldi brings to the role... Please, feel free to share and post any insights you've gleaned from Doctor Who in the comments session. Thank you.
