Doctor Who: 10 Rumours About The Day Of The Doctor We Hope Are True

4. The Fall of The 11th

Matt Smith Regeneration "On the fields of Trenzalore, at the fall of the Eleventh, when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a Question will be asked, a question that must never, ever be answered..." When we last saw Matt Smith in The Name of The Doctor, he had been lured to his future resting place at Trenzalore through the machinations of the Great Intelligence. We never actually see the Doctor leave that mysterious planet, so it is possible that the primary setting for The Day of The Doctor could be Trenzalore, the place where Matt Smith's incarnation of the Doctor is said to finally meet his demise. The Silence, Madam Kavarian, The Order of the Headless Monks are each driven to prevent the first question from ever being answered. As The Name of The Doctor closes, could they be on there way to Trenzalore to prevent the legend that they fear and that unites them, from being fulfilled? I think most of us would agree that Matt Smith deserves better than a send-off in a multi-Doctor story, but on the 50th anniversary this might be the rare time where it could work. Whether the other Doctors were to play a role in his demise(perhaps manipulating him into regenerating into someone more suited to face the threats ahead), or in a failed attempt to save what according to canon could be his final regeneration, written well the fall of the eleventh on the 50th anniversary could be the regeneration tale that finally topples Peter Davison's Caves of Adrozani from the top of the fan favorite list.
