6. It Sets Up 'The Three Doctors'
'For the Second, his meeting with his First & Third incarnations takes place immediately following 'The Mind Robber'. After he, Jamie & Zoe make a full pelt escape from the imploding Land Of Fiction following the defeat of the Master Brain,the Doctor realises he's left something important behind and goes back to get it. That's right. His recorder has somehow hung back-and the 1992 'Doctor Who' Yearbook story 'Future Imperfect' explains just what happens before he has to head off & help stop Omega from causing universal mayhem. The man he thought he knew as 'Lemuel Gulliver' from 'Gulliver's Travels' turns out to be a fellow Time Lord. And an important one-Goth. Goth will later become Chancellor as seen alongside the Fourth Doctor in 'The Deadly Assassin'- here though he's working as a spy for the Celestial Intervention Agency. Having monitored the Doctor throughout 'The Mind Robber' he shows him cosmic energy being drained from Gallifrey through a black hole and before you can say ' any objections?' he's stood in the TARDIS with both his future self and a companion he's yet to meet.
