7. The Legend
When you're traveling around the universe saving countless people and correcting the flow of time, you're bound to turn some heads. In all the years that Doctor Who has been around, we know that he's had many adventures and met a lot of different people, and even started to develop a reputation on Earth, although non-government records of him were sparse. It wasn't until the Eleventh Doctor era that we started to fully grasp the impact he was leaving across the universe. In his first full-length episode he was able to turn back the Atraxi by having them look him up in Earth's databanks to see that he was the one who defeated the alien threats on Earth. Fearful, the Atraxi ran for their lives, and the Doctor became a man who could turn back an army with just words. This wasn't a self-contained event. I mean, when you have a religious organization who wants to kill you because they think you'll be the reason for their downfall, it's likely that your reputation is one based on fear. The Doctor, however, didn't realize just exactly how many across the universe viewed him. We've followed the Doctor for years, so we know that his intentions are primarily good. Unfortunately, the rest of the universe can't be viewers or his traveling companions. River had to tell him what type of man he had become in A Good Man Goes to War after the battle with the Silence. There he learned that while some cultures' definition of doctor means "healer," because of him, other cultures defined doctor as "warrior." I remember reading somewhere on the universe that the legend he had created for himself was very similar to the legend of DC Comics superhero Batman. A Time Lord Dark Knight...sounds about right. Still, The Doctor is a man who can admit when he's made a mistake. At the end of season 6, he tells Dorium he's going back into the shadows because he's been "too noisy." When season 7 starts, he's been going around the universe erasing every record of himself. Naturally the Doctor won't stop helping people and traveling, but this time he's going to be a bit more discreet about it. That's probably a good idea, Doctor. You already deal with enough enemies, best not to piss off more people than you need to.
