Doctor Who: 11 Things We'll Miss About The Eleventh Doctor

6. Ignorance Of The Obvious

Eleven Enthusiasm The Doctor is one of the smartest beings in the universe, yet when it comes to certain human customs, he has a tendency to be either oblivious or ignorant. This mostly presented itself when it came to humans and their customs. It's ironic: a man who has spent most of his time protecting the Earth from extraterrestrial threats for hundreds of years still has trouble recognizing certain human behaviors. This first became clear when Amy was trying to tell him that he might have feelings for him. Not getting what she was saying, she decides to kiss him. The Doctor's not having any of this redheaded dish, however, so what's his solution? Bring Rory along on their adventures and get him and Amy some time together. How does he pass this invite along to Rory? He breaks into his stripper cake and tells him that he kissed his fiancee. Great way to break the ice. This trend continued in the later season when Amy and Rory were married. When they asked not to have a bunk bed in their room on the TARDIS, he fails to see what exactly they'll be using that bed for other than sleeping, stating that you can't beat a bed with a ladder. Later in A Good Man Goes to War, he at first has trouble understanding Vastra's question about how Amy and Rory's baby was conceived, and then appeared flustered when he finally understood. He wasn't just oblivious about relationships though. There were moments of the show when it was obvious he was being played by either an adversary or friend and he didn't realize it right away. One of my favorite moments of these was in The Name of the Doctor when he tells the Maitland children they have to wait to go to the movies until Clara wakes up. They then suggest playing blind man's bluff, with the Doctor being the blind man. God knows how long the Doctor spent wandering around that house trying to find the kids, but it should have occurred to him that something was amiss when they didn't yell out clues to him. His response when he learned what they had done: "Those little Daleks!"
