Doctor Who: All 17 Series 7 Episodes & Special Ranked
1. The Name Of The Doctor - Steven Moffat
I feel like this is somewhat of a controversial decision, but I'm keeping it at the top. No other episode of Doctor Who has ever made me shout at the television, but at the end of this dark and somber finale the reveal of John Hurt made me jump up and shout "WHAT?!" in both excitement and glee, my heart was racing. The Name Of The Doctor isn't a particularly action packed episode, but the threat is very real here. Moffat could have easily given us the Doctor's name, and I think there was a bit in all of us that was waiting for it to come for the entire duration. The Whispermen are fantastic also, the rhyming couplets that they speak in really adding to the atmosphere of the situation. River Song returns yet again, and her presence is very welcome; the final conversation between her and the Doctor being very emotional, and giving us a further look into the Doctor's character. The resolution to the "Impossible Girl" story arc was also well handled, and enabled us to get some lovely montages using past footage of all the Doctors. I don't believe that any other episode has cause more internet speculation, or ever will. With Series 7 done, now it's time for the specials...
