6. The Angels Take Manhattan - Steven Moffat
The final episode with the Ponds was most certainly going to have to live up to a lot of hype. Did it deliver? To some people yes, and to others not at all. The use of the Weeping Angels was heavily criticized, saying they had become tired and boring. The cherubs did shake them up a bit and provide some creepy moments but they didn't really do anything. River Song is back for no apparent reason also, even if she is vital to the plot and fairly interesting. Some plot points on the other hand make no sense such as the Statue of Liberty, which was really just done to be iconic. Despite its flaws, I've put it in this position because of the Ponds. Their goodbye is so heartbreaking and so well done that it's all but impossible not to praise it. Amy chooses Rory over the Doctor and they're gone, just like that. Everyone's performance is amazing, and I am not ashamed to say that this episode still brings a tear to my eye whenever I watch it. The film noir style of the episode provided a brilliant atmosphere, and that one smiling angel offered an enduringly creepy image...
Jake lives in a small town in England with nothing much to do besides watch far too much television, play games and occasionally have a cup of tea. His favourite things to do are play the guitar and eat scones. Follow him at @_jakelennon if you wish.
