Doctor Who: 8 More Predictions For Season 8

7. Clara And The 12th Doctor's Relationship Will Be Hugely Important

Eleven told Amy he kept coming back to her because she was "the first face this face saw." Then he repeated it, when he hallucinated Amy in the Tardis at the end. Amy was the first face he saw, and she needed to be (just about) the last. The first face Ten saw was Rose, and it was easily his most important relationship. He adored Rose, and that ruled his life. She was the last person he wanted to see in the universe. I don't care if you like Rose, or if you think she became a plot tumor €“ she was damn important, and she was at the center of long-term plots for 4 years. "The first face" is a big deal. And, given the fact that almost all we have seen Capaldi do is gawk intensely at Clara's face, I think we can reasonably say Clara will be essential to the Capaldi era. Even after she's replaced, she'll be the dominant companion for the next few years (or as long as Capaldi sticks around). I know there's a significant contingent of people who think Clara is boring and has no personality €“ people who are so vocal that Moffat actually inserted a character summary in the last episode €“ but like it or not, she's gonna be a big deal for the foreseeable future.
