Doctor Who: All 85 Revival Era Stories Ranked

55. The Vampires Of Venice

The vampires are in fact alien fish and it's all too simple to solve, but Matt Smith is excellent and Toby Whithouse proves he's one of the funnier writers on the show.

54. Night Terrors

Creepy dolls and Matt Smith doing what Matt Smith does best, 'Night Terrors' isn't perfect, but it's a funny, fairly interesting and well-layered effort from Mark Gatiss.

53. Rose

The introduction to the whole series. That plastic Mickey might look ridiculous nine years on, but Christopher Eccleston is utterly engaging; funny, philosophical and anguished by the past, he brings the legend to life with a hell of a kickstart.

52. Planet Of The Dead

The lighthearted antithesis to 2009's 'The Waters Of Mars', 'Planet Of The Dead' is phenomenal in terms of setting and intrigue, if not a little cheesy. It's an Easter special though, so who cares?

51. The Beast Below

Steven Moffat drops the ball after a fantastic opening to Series 5, but 'The Beast Below' is still a fascinating tale with a satisfying resolution. Ignore all bits that make no sense, and it's great!
