Doctor Who: Ranking The Introductions Of Every Doctor
5. The Christmas Invasion
Another Doctor that suffered from falling asleep on the job was the Tenth Doctor in the first Christmas special in the series. With Christmas in mind, Russell T Davies dipped into his treasure trove of Christmas cheese with robot Santas and spinning Christmas trees that attack. Struggling with post-regenerative symptoms, it is left to Rose, Mickey, Jacqui and Harriet Jones, Prime Minister, to try and save the Earth. Luckily for them, The Doctor is saved by the vapour of a spilt cup of tea to sword fight his way past the Sycorax, after ridiculing them and their plans. It was a triumphant moment. At least this story gave use a glimpse of what the Tenth Doctor would be like with his jokey, cheeky style coupled with a dark serious side in his condemnation of the Sycorax and Harriet Jones' actions alike. He was shown to be more welcoming of Rose's family than his predecessor, leading you to warm to the new Doctor. It isn't a perfect episode. It is dragged down by the Christmas tag but there were moments to enjoy here. Tennant asserts himself as The Doctor very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liGD3vcnpHI
