Doctor Who Series 8: 10 Moments We're Most Looking Forward To

7. Back To Coal Hill €“ Episode 6

The title most strongly rumoured for this episode is The Caretaker which fits in the with the widely circulated story outline of the Doctor taking the job of Coal Hill School€™s caretaker. Presumably to uncover some kind of nefarious plot that (judging by the location filming) will involve robots. This may seem like it€™s a little bit too reminiscent of Series 2€™s School Reunion but Gareth Roberts is a capable enough writer to limit the number of similarities. The plot of this episode also creates a lot of interesting possibilities for character-centred moments, considering that the Doctor will effectively be on Clara€™s territory and, as far as the school is concerned, be of a lower status than her and Danny Pink. Gareth Roberts is a very astute comedy writer when it comes to Doctor Who so it€™s hopefully a lighter episode with Steven Moffat commenting that it is not unlike Roberts' Series 5 episode The Lodger. It would definitely be great fun to see such a dark and brusque Doctor having to adapt to the much more modest and mundane life of a school caretaker. It also looks to be a continuity lover€™s dream given that it€™s a case of the Doctor revisiting a place with significant ties to his past, and that the main plot is a callback to a throwaway joke in Remembrance Of The Daleks.
