Doctor Who Series 8: 10 Moments We're Most Looking Forward To

8. A Monster Too Scary For The Trailer €“ Episode 9

At the moment, Episode 9 is one of Series 8€™s less talked about adventures, currently being overlooked in favour of more high profile episodes like Deep Breath. But it turns out that there could be more than one reason for this with writer Jamie Mathieson recently writing on Twitter that:
€œFound out last night: a monster from one of my Dr Who episodes was officially deemed 'too scary' to go in the series trailer. Heh heh heh.€
If there was ever a statement that could draw viewers to an episode, this would be it. When the Weeping Angels, the Empty Child, and all kinds of other assorted nasties get a pass, you have to what wonder just what the hell Jamie Mathieson has been cooking up if it can€™t be even be shown in a trailer. Although it€™s hard to judge without proper promotional material, this episode and its monster would seem to be ramping up the fear factor to a never-before-seen level. Bringing back full-on concentrated horror to Doctor Who after several years is an excellent move for Series 8, being more in line with the shift to more serious content. Especially since Doctor Who hits the mark the most when it€™s not trying to play it safe. Despite Mathieson having no previous work on Doctor Who to judge his Series 8 episodes by, the fact that the BBC won€™t even promote his episode€™s monster is a sign that we€™d better start preparing our sofas.
