Doctor Who: 10 Amazing TV Show Crossovers Fans Want To See

4. Downton Abbey

Davos Seaworth
ITV

One of the biggest shows in the World is actually one of the least flashy which makes the idea of a collision course with The Doctor all the more interesting. This classy period drama would make the perfect setting for an accidental invasion of some Alien species that the titular Time Lord would be trying to find. The Doctor has previously travelled back to this kind of period, during the events of “The Unicorn and the Wasp”, and to this day this episode remains one of Series fours highest watched episodes – barring the two part finale.

Watching The Doctor try to fit in as a visitor to the Abbey would be fun on it’s own, without adding the likely conversations between Peter Capaldi and Maggie Smith which would be filled with witty one liners and sharp retorts. Also the arrival of the very beautiful Clara – herself having visited Victorian, England in the series eight opener – could well turn heads and be the cause of quite the scandal for the inhabitants of Downton.

The Doctor doesn't fit in anywhere, ever. As the mysterious "Doctor" John Smith arrives at Downton with his scandalously young "friend", Miss Clara Oswald, in tow, tongues would be wagging immediately. The Doctor's stay in Downton would be punctuated by a strange love-hate relationship with the opinionated Dowager Countess of Downton, whilst seemingly trying to get to the bottom of whether or not Under Butler Thomas Barrow is actually that evil, or whether or not he's a Dalek Puppet, by checking his forehead for an eye-stalk. Just how The Doctor would fit seamlessly into this truly straight-laced British Drama would be challenging to see, but nonetheless, entertaining to witness.
