Doctor Who: 10 Best Episodes Of The Decade
3. World Enough And Time/The Doctor Falls (2017)
The two-part finale of Series 10 did not put a foot wrong. Though these episodes combine to make a story over one-hundred minutes in length, neither of them dragged for even a second.
‘World Enough and Time’ carries plenty of intrigue and suspense. Bill’s time with the mysterious Razor makes for a gripping plotline that concludes with a wicked cliffhanger at the end of the episode.
‘The Doctor Falls’, on the other hand, is less suspenseful but more climactic. Watching the Doctor fend off an army of Cybermen singlehandedly is one of Capaldi’s most memorable scenes.
Yet the best element of this episode is the relationship between Missy and the Master. Both incarnations of the Doctor’s nemesis have wicked chemistry together owing to the performances of Michelle Gomez and John Simm.
Given how satisfactory these two episodes were, it’s almost a shame the Twelve Doctor didn’t regenerate at the end. Though the following episode (‘Twice Upon a Time’) had its moments, ‘The Doctor Falls’ felt like the perfect ending to Capaldi’s run.
