Doctor Who: 10 Dubious Morals That Series 8 Taught Us

6. Solid Gymnastic Skills Can Be A Real Fence-Mender

The bulk of The Caretaker is concerned with the initially difficult relationship between the Doctor and Danny Pink (which is for the best, really, seeing as the Skovox Blitzer is not worth 45 minutes of anyone's time, and the only other item of interest here is Courtney vomiting in the TARDIS - although it is worth noting that that's the first time in 51 years that anyone has done so). The problem in a nutshell is that Danny used to be a soldier and despite having spent a significant amount of time being besties with the Brigadier, the Doctor has decreed that he hates soldiers now. In a larger sense, of course, the Doctor is merely reacting to the fact that all of his essential personality traits appear to have been divided between Danny Pink and Adrian the Eleventh Doctor clone while Clara has fallen for all the qualities he likes least about himself. The fact remains, however, that the first meeting between the Doctor and Danny goes about as badly as it possibly could. What, then, could possibly set their relationship on the road to mending? Why, Danny doing a triple twist backflip with a tuck under over a menacing robot, of course. You can't claim you've tried everything to fix a relationship until you give gymnastics a shot.
