Doctor Who: 10 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References In The Magician's Apprentice

First seen in Series Five finale The Pandorica Opens, the Maldovarium is Doctor Who's stand-in for the Mos Eisley Cantina - an outer-space bar usually patronized by a variety of the Doctor's rogues gallery and a place to go for information.

During Colony Sarff's visit in this episode there is a bevy of baddies to spot including an Ood, a Hath, a Sycorax, a Kahler and a couple from Who's spin-off shows, namely a Blowfish from Torchwood and a Skullion from The Sarah Jane Adventures. Although he doesn't appear in this one, the Maldovarium is owned by Dorium Maldovar, an old ally of the Eleventh Doctor's who we last saw back in The Wedding of River Song as a head in a box. Don't ask.

Similarly, The Shadow Proclamation - previously seen in The Stolen Earth with David Tennant - is also featured here, with a cameo by the Judoon.
