8. Rose's Return
The episode Doomsday marked the tearful goodbye between the Doctor and Rose Tyler. Billie Piper had left the show and fans accepted that they would never see her again. Well, not quite. But at the time, thats how it felt. The cocky young shop girl from the Powell Estate had been just as important as the Doctor during the first two series of NuWho and in truth she was also the most enduring face having been in more episodes than any other character. When she left, however, it wasnt shocking and because it was so sad, it wasnt breathtaking either. It was a moment that would live on, both with fans and with the Doctor, for almost two years. That is, of course, until the closing moments of Series 4. Having just saved the world from the Adipose, the Doctor had agreed to travel with Donna Noble. Fans were just getting used to a new face flying around in the TARDIS with the Doctor when... Boom. Rose. What? Rose? What is she doing there? Shes supposed to be stuck in a parallel universe! That was the general reaction from fans. Rose Tyler, stood at a barrier, watching the fallout from the Doctors latest act of heroism before having a quick chat with Donna Noble who was just about to fly off in the TARDIS for adventures anew. It was a well-executed moment that left us with both questions and shivers in equal amounts.
