Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Why The Third Doctor Is The Best Ever

1. Jon Pertwee

It is impossible to separate the Doctor€™s incarnations from the men (so far) who have played them. Jon Pertwee was brilliant in all sorts of ways. During World War II, Pertwee was an officer attached to the Naval Intelligence Division in which he worked alongside Ian Fleming. Yes, that Ian Fleming. In this position, he reported to, met and talked with Winston Churchill. Part of his role was to teach Commandos how to use gadgets like tobacco pipes that fired bullets. Now the origins of Pertwee€™s James Bond-style interpretation of the Doctor are clearer. After leaving Doctor Who, Jon Pertwee went on to further success as Worzel Gummidge. He even left instructions that he be cremated with a toy Worzel fixed to his coffin. So, Jon Pertwee was an officer in a secretive military division, knew Winston Churchill and then switched to an acting career in which he played two of the most loved television characters of the 70s and 80s. On top of all this, Jon Pertwee is immortal. Have you seen his son, Sean Pertwee, stealing scenes as Alfred in Gotham? Every week he looks more and more like his father. Last Halloween, Sean tweeted a photo of himself dressed as his dad and won the worldwide costume contest hands down. The Third Doctor is reborn, and if he€™s reborn he can return. Just saying. What did you think of this list? Are there any other reasons why the Third Doctor is the best Doctor ever? Reverse the polarity and join the conversation in the comments section below.

Older than some and taller than most. Grey of eye and white of beard. Stephen's book 'Hiding', about a boy who meets a goblin in a local wood, is available to download from the usual places. Think of it as a scavenger hunt.
