Doctor Who: 10 Superfans Who Landed Starring Roles
5. Colin Baker
Like Peter Davison, Colin Baker also grew up watching the program from its very start, as well as crediting Patrick Troughton as his favourite incarnation of The Doctor.
"Patrick, well he did the job that enabled the rest of us to do ours. If that first regeneration had not been as stupid as it was, he was so different from William Hartnell. Somehow he managed always to sort things out without us even realising he had done it".
Colin has also mentioned that when he co-started with Troughton in The Two Doctors, he wanted Troughton to know how much he respected him for what he did with the character of The Doctor and was overjoyed that Troughton felt the same way about his incarnation.
The two of them clearly had a strong friendship outside the show with sharing mutual friends and poking fun at each other in interviews. It seems the lines between actor and Doctor have blurred somewhat over the years.
