Another relative of the Doctor that we've met is their granddaughter, Susan.

We spent quite a bit of time with Susan in the early days of Doctor Who, but what we don't know is what happened to her after she left the TARDIS in 22nd century London to start a new life with the human David Campbell. We know that she was plucked out of time by Borusa to play the Game of Rassilon in The Five Doctors... but that's about it.

So does the Doctor have a great-granddaughter or a great-grandson? Was Susan enlisted into the Time War? Did she fall in some battle against the Daleks? Or live out her days in peace?

Apart from the occasional nod to Susan in the modern series, the Doctor's granddaughter only recently became a big deal in Season 1. Sutekh's trap for the Fifteenth Doctor was predicated on him being enticed by the prospect of seeing Susan again – hence the whole Susan Triad scheme. And yet, in The Devil's Chord, the Doctor suggested that Susan may have been killed along with all the other Time Lords – referring to either the Master's destruction of Gallifrey and the subsequent explosion of the Death Particle in Series 12, or the Time War.

Clearly though, the Doctor still has hopes of seeing Susan again, even if he isn't 100% sure whether she's alive or dead. With family being a big theme of the Fifteenth Doctor's era thus far, we could potentially see the Doctor seeking some answers in Season 2!
