Doctor Who: 10 Things We Want in an Anniversary Special

3. Not a Dalek Story

THE WISH The temptation will be to do a story involving the Daleks. What a horrible thought. I find the Daleks to be not scary, overused, and boring. They seem to be extremely hard to use correctly, and so for every good Dalek story out there , €œThe Daleks€, €œGenesis of the Daleks€ and €œDalek, for example, there are at least three others that are mediocre (€œDaleks in Manhattan€, €œVictory of the Daleks€), or flat-out bad (€œDestiny of the Daleks€). The problem is that they€™re so very, very popular. Most fans seem to just love the Daleks, and though I don€™t quite understand why, I can at least recognize this. So I can easily picture the Daleks being featured heavily in a 50th anniversary story, though I really, really hope that doesn€™t happen. ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING As the primary threat? Probably pretty low, thankfully. In the 20% range. But as at least some element of the threat? Very high, likely over 75%. Like I said, they€™re just too popular to resist using them, though I€™ll at least recognize that Moffat has been quite restrained in his use of them so far, so I have some hope we won€™t see hide nor hair (€well, you know what I mean), of them during any special episode.
