Doctor Who: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Michelle Gomez
7. She Once Studied To Teach Shakespeare... Despite Never Reading It
During her stint working with the Royal Shakespeare Company - where she played Kate in The Taming of the Shrew, the very character that inspired he into acting - Gomez revealed to WhatsOnStage in a 2009 interview that she had enrolled in a course to teach Shakespeare, so that in her twilight years she will "have something to do" once her acting career has expired. She even spent time in the classroom teaching 23 pupils at her local school, describing it as an out of body experience. Astonishingly, however, Gomez confessed to having no knowledge or understanding of Shakespeare prior to starring in one of his most famous comedy plays, and actually had him "in a little box marked 'dont bother'" until she arrived at the RSC in 2007 to see Much Ado About Nothing and was blown away.
