4. She Had A Twin Brother

One of four children, Gomez has the distinction of being the only girl born to her parents, having grown up with two older brothers, one of whom is called Derek, and a twin brother who tragically passed away in 2004. The impact it had on her is patently clear, as was evident when she spoke to a reporter from the Herald Scotland in 2006, whose question about her brother was met with a sudden change in demeanour, silence and a sigh. Recalling her childhood in a 2009 interview with the London Evening Standard, she quipped that growing up with three brothers required her to be "quite physical" and that she had to fight her own battles when civil war erupted in the Gomez household.
