Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Just Didn't Give A F***

Oncoming Storm, Last of the Time Lords... and really quite mean.

Because the Doctor looks like a human, sounds like a human, and always hangs around with humans, we often forget that the character is just as much of an alien as the Slitheen, Judoon, or even the Daleks.

This is a character from another planet, a character who has lived for a mind-boggling amount of years, and a character with some seriously questionable fashion sense. And so there are many, many occasions where the character's alien-ness, old age, and burning anger fully shines through, and we see the true character of the Doctor that hides beneath the celery and bow ties.

Sometimes the Doctor just loses it, and really doesn't give a damn in the slightest. Sometimes they punish villains without mercy. Sometimes they go on the warpath, or do whatever it takes to achieve a desired outcome. And sometimes they just get really really angry! Whatever the case, these examples of the Doctor not giving a damn are always entertaining to watch...

10. Calling Back The Aliens For A Scolding, As You Do

No TARDIS, no sonic screwdriver, and two minutes to spare.

What an absolutely convincing first win for the Eleventh Doctor! Well that was nice and simple, I guess they can all go hom-' wait a second what’s he doing now? Oh sure, let’s just call the big flying alien eyeball that was threatening to burn the entire planet back to Earth just so you can give them a scolding.

This is the primest of the prime examples of the Doctor showing off, especially for his new companion who clearly has a bit of hero worship for him already. Eleven's on an adrenaline high from his win over Prisoner Zero and doesn’t even stop to think about the potential consequences of pushing things too far with the Atraxi. It probably wuld have been better – and certainly safer – to just take the win, but y'know, Doctor's gonna Doctor.

On the plus side things did all work out fine in the end and we did get an all-timer of a scene from Eleven, one that properly cemented him as the Doctor and has remained iconic ever since. And yes, it is really cool to see the Doctor with that bit of swagger.

But for Eleven, in a way this was the beginning of the end. Getting too cocky, making himself too big – it's this sort of stuff that would come back to bite him in A Good Man Goes To War and beyond, forcing armies and religious movements and villainous alliances to rise up in fear of him, which ultimately culminated in his regeneration on Trenzalore.

Still though. Telling off a giant eyeball. Hell of a way to introduce yourself.
