Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor

8. Learn How To Fix Things

Inventing and fixing things has always been a key skill for the Doctor. Whether creating a new sonic screwdriver like Thirteen, fixing up the TARDIS like Five or creating machines that go ding! like Ten, the Timelord has always been technical. Part engineer, mechanic, and inventor, he has rewired his way out of many a sticky situation.

Now, whilst the average person doesn’t actually need to know how to reverse the polarity of something, knowing how things work and how to do basic home repairs is useful. Most of us can change a light bulb, but what about learning to rewire a plug, fix a tap, or repair a bicycle? Once again there is an endless source of videos dedicated to fixing things at home.

There are also educational videos on engineering, coding, and computer science, if your interest takes you that far – and why not? Since technology is getting smarter, it is worth grasping at least the basic concepts behind it. After all, if Doctor Who has taught us anything, it’s to know how to shut stuff off – especially evil AIs that want to rule the world.
