Doctor Who: 10 Ways To Be More Like The Doctor
7. Enjoy Some Play!
There’s a wonderful quote from the Doctor in the episode Robot – ‘There’s no point being grown-up if you can’t be childish sometimes.’ It’s a good point, why work so hard and be responsible if you’re not allowed to relax once in a while? Becoming an adult does not mean abandoning your wonder or enjoyment of play - as the Doctor demonstrates himself when he learns a magic trick in Kinda, reads Peter Rabbit to K9 in The Creature from Pit and puts in a lemonade tap in The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe.
One of the perks of being a responsible adult is having the freedom to be ourselves and pursue our interests; and there are lots of childhood activities we can continue to enjoy - reading children’s books, watching our old favourite television shows, buying an ice-cream, going to the beach, or playing board games. Then there’s the attitude, as adults we can become blindsided by constant responsibilities, but as kids we have the time to stop and take in the world.
