6. The Beast Below (Series 5)

Steven Moffat had taken over from Russell T Davies as head writer of the show but this episode just didn't live up to the reputation that preceded him, especially as it followed on from the success of Matt Smith's debut episode The Eleventh Hour. This episode included freaky robots which (somehow) had 3 faces and a spaceship made up of Great Britain which was being powered by a gigantic space whale. Seriously. Despite all of that, there really doesn't seem to be all that much going on in this episode and the relevance of certain aspects is lacking. As such, the episode could have been made better by... well, reimagining the entire plot. Harsh but true.
