Doctor Who: 10 Worst Episodes Of The Decade

1. The Tsuranga Conundrum (2018)

‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’ has so many problems it’s hard to believe such a story ever made it to the screen.

Firstly, the villain is laughably poor. Though the CGI isn’t too bad, the Pting – a small, goblin-like creature that eats non-organic matter – carries no dramatic weight whatsoever and is simply irritating rather than frightening.

There are also too many scenes in which the Doctor simply wanders about the medical ship without any significant plot progression. This would be alright if the dialogue had any substance, but Chris Chibnall’s script unfortunately lacks any form of intrigue or tension until the last fifteen minutes or so.

To top it all off, Chibnall also threw in a subplot involving a pregnant man called Yoss who gives birth at the end of the episode with the help of the Doctor’s companions. Why such a storyline was included will always remain a mystery given it literally adds nothing to the episode beyond extending the runtime.

In fairness, the set design is great and Bradley Walsh does have a few comedic lines that land. However, these positives are minute compared to the sea of problems that persist throughout the script, and as such, the Thirteenth Doctor’s fifth adventure stands out for all the wrong reasons.
