Doctor Who: 10 Worst Episodes Of The Decade
2. Dinosaurs On A Spaceship (2012)
‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’ is as silly as the title suggests. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with having a more light-hearted story from time to time, the problem with this episode is that it also contains more serious moments that are corny rather than dramatic.
The other key issue is the excessive number of companions. Having five central characters in addition to the Doctor leads to a messy script in which each character isn’t given enough screen time. (Though Mark Williams does deserve praise for bringing plenty of comedy to the episode.)
David Mitchell and Robert Webb (best known for Peep Show) also feature as a pair of robots. Unfortunately, their dialogue is so poorly written they come across as annoying rather than funny.
The combination of these elements results in a tiresome episode that’s almost entirely devoid of charm. Whether you’re a casual or hardcore Doctor Who fan, ‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’ has almost nothing to offer.
